Assessments & Accountability
The Mississippi Department of Education requires all public school districts in the state to participate in the statewide assessment system. Assessments play a vital role in ensuring the academic growth and success of students in public schools. These required assessments serve multiple purposes, including evaluating students' understanding of key concepts and skills, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and providing valuable feedback to educators and parents. Through these assessments, we can measure the effectiveness of our curriculum and instructional practices, pinpoint areas of improvement, and ensure that all students are receiving a high-quality education.
Students in West Jasper Consolidated School District participate in the following assessments:
Pre-K: Brigance
Kindergarten: Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (Pretest & Posttest)
Grades 3-8: MAAP English Language Arts & Mathematics
Grades 5 & 8: MAAP Science
Grade 11: ACT Junior Administration
High School: MAAP End of Course Assessments in English II, Algebra I, Biology, and U.S. History
Other assessments are also administered to selected students in certain programs or classes such as the English Language Proficiency Test (Las Links) and MAAP-A (Alternate Assessment), and ACT WorkKeys
